Questions
  1. A hard news lede introduces the situation by stating the what, when, where, why, and how of their article. The lede in this story was more focused on capturing the reader's attention and giving a main idea of who the article was written about.
  2. Who- 2nd paragraph, What- 2nd & 3rd paragraph, Where- 2nd paragraph, When- title/subtitle, Why- 3rd & 10th paragraph, How- 5th paragraph
  3. There are lots of quotes in the story.
  4. They are not arranged in the "quote transition" style used in news writing.
  5. Kevin McLoughlin, director of post-production films for the National Football League, Dispatch videographer Doral Chenoweth III, Ken Andrews, a volunteer for Mount Carmel Outreach and a 15-year veteran of local homeless-assistance work, WNCI program director Tony Florentino, Shane Cormier, a Los Angeles agency owner, league spokesman Patrick Harris, and of course Ted Williams are quoted.
  6. The quote, "My boss said to me: 'If you don't get him hired, you're fired,'" said by Kevin McLoughlin is the most powerful quote to me. It shows how bad different organizations and companies want an amazing voice like Ted Williams. They value his talent more than he realizes.
  7. 33 paragraphs
  8. 781 words
  9. Both the lede and final paragraph of the story are short statements that prove how remarkable Williams' voice is. It repeats the idea of the story in two similar, but slightly different ways.
  10. I think the author made them short and mysterious to draw the reader in and give them a reason to read the story and find out what he meant my "that voice." It also repeats the idea of the unusual man's talent.
  11. The story was very interesting, and I liked how it was focused on one main man, rather than a situation like hard news stories.
  12. I did want to hear the voice because I wasn't quite sure what to expect.
  13. I felt like I was able to make a better connection between the video and story and truly understand the idea of the story. Seeing the video was a good addition and helped the reader understand why people were so amazed by Williams' voice.
  14. The story would have lost its impact without the video.
  15. The writer did come up with a way to try to convey the sound of the voice to the reader by finding a way to "hear" the voice without really hearing it .
  16. He did this by including quotes between different paragraphs of Williams saying things like a TV or radio spokesman would say. This gave of hints that the man's voice would sound almost fake like many of the best spokesperson's do.
