Long Response Questions: "Trump bypasses GOP on debt, Harvey aid"
  1. It was really interesting Mr. Trump made a deal without the support of other Republican officials because for the first time, he went against his own party and did what he thought would benefit the victims of Hurricane Harvey the most. He had never gone against his own party to resolve a growing conflict. Although it scored him some "legislative victories," it created friction and conflict between him and his party.
  2. I think Mr. Trump was motivated to make this decision because he wanted to show the nation that he is capable of helping citizens in need, especially those who had lost everything in Hurricane Harey. He knew the in order to do this and rebuild Houston, the U.S. may need a larger debt limit.
  3. I believe the GOP leaders feel that Mr. Trump betrayed their trust and wish he had agreed to their proposed plan. However, they still respect Mr. Trump and can understand why he made his decision and voted to agree with the Democratic party, even if it does not line up with all of their individual beliefs.
  4. I think the United States will benefit from Mr. Trump's decision because it proves that he can put government needs and issues to the side until people in danger have been brought to safety. The welfare of U.S. citizens should always come first.

News- The Lockdown The story is about the Akins lockdown that took place on February 22, which was the result of a former student boarding a bus heading towards the school with ammunition. Senior Bee Barto and teacher Sarah Simmons were interviewed to share theyr experiences. Sarah Simmons and Bee Barto were quoted. I thought the strongest quotes was, "But I wanted to make sure it was a drill and I did see a SWAT team in the hall. It was at that point that I knew it was not a drill." Free Write - Embarrassment

Settled in after a long day, I finally got the chance to lay down and relax. I shut out the sound of the TV downstairs as my eyes began to slowly close, my exhaustion taking over. My mind takes me back to third grade. Mrs. Grance’s class was generally a good class, but there were definitely some bad days consisting of the kids not getting along or the teacher being way too intense for third graders to handle. In second grade, one of my closer friends was named Atticus, who now is a freshman at Bowie too. Being young, we were still very childish, so messing with each other was an every day occurrence. Sometimes we took our play a little too far, but I never minded, it was all fun and games.
