Final Exam Part 3

Opinion Writing-Allowances Parents around the world give their children allowances in order to motivate them to do their chores, learn the connection between hard work and rewards, or learn how to be financially responsible from a young age. Allowances can do all of these things very well, but only if done properly. Though allowances are often beneficial, children need to know there are standards they must meet to have get the luxury of receiving a constant allowance. Behavior is a huge aspect of allowances. Children who misbehave at home or school should not be rewarded with an allowance. Repeatedly giving a child who has a habit of misbehaving a weekly or monthly reward of an allowance is unacceptable and can lead to bad habits. Doing this can lead to children feeling entitled, having bad attitudes, believing they can be rewarded without working hard, and thinking there are no consequences to bad behavior.  When people, especially younger children, believe they ...

Final Exam Part 2

Hard News Story Early yesterday morning, a cyclone was detected by meteorologists from the Nadi Weather Centre and said to be heading toward the Solomon Islands.  "The storm had sustained winds of 140 kph and was classified as a Level 4 Cyclone," Nadi Weather Center Director James Jones said. "It was a fast developing front that we could not have anticipated any faster." An hour after the discovery of the storm, Nadi Weather Centre got in contact with the Solomon Islands government, warning them of the cyclone.  "We warned all the proper authorities," Jones said. Later that morning, winds in Honiara were blowing at more than 140 kilometres per hour, and by midday, the center of Victor, the cyclone, passed over Honiara before dying out in the Coral Sea. "It was pretty chaotic for a few hours there when the storm hit the community," Police Chief Marianna Adams said.  " It could have been worse but ...

Feature Story Final

Feature Story William Clyde Carson admired the beautiful parakeets flying around in the cage owned by a neighbor who had always had a passion for all types of birds. Encouraged by his mother to go look at the parakeets, he no longer regretted the idea of waking up at the crack of dawn to walk over. Then it hit him. He could buy, raise, and sell parakeets just as his neighbor did. With that brilliant idea, at the age of only twelve years old, he started his first successful business. Born in Westover Edition, San Marcos, Texas in 1938, Carson had a business idea that would be part of his life for many years to come. When he bought his first two parakeets at a very young age, he had no idea what the future would hold. Carson credits the start of his unique journey to his mother. “My mother was very very interested in all kinds of animals and is who encouraged me to get a couple of parakeets,” Carson said. As soon as he bought the first parakeets, Carson rushed home to bui...

He is now a successful author and loving father and husband. 34 paragraphs 1051 words 17 direct quotes 4 people quoted "...he will go on and on about how much he enjoyed interacting with the other people. He says that everyone comes together because of the sports, but the best part about the Olympics is the people" middle of story Yes If possible, it would've been really cool to interview the coach, Tom Maloney. Yes What challenges did O'Quinn experience training for or during the olympics? Did the olympics change him in any way or shape his personality? O'Quinn Reflects on Olympian Experience I think ...

Self Critique

William Clyde Carson and Kennedy Carson were my sources. Carson was 12 years old when he bought his first parakeets and had the idea to start a business. His business took off when he signed his first contract and his bird supply grew. He still raises and sells birds today. 19 paragraphs 952 words 9 direct quotes 2 people quoted “Meeting people and being able to visit with different people is what I love about the business industry. It [the parakeets] has been not just a business for me, but it’s been a about the animals and the experience.” end, last paragraph Yes has capturing lede I could interview my mom or any of Carson's other children Yes is objective I do not think there is any questions I left unanswered. I tried to make it as interesting but simple for the reader. 68 Years of Raising Parakeets I think my story was pretty good and well written, but I think I could improve it by interviewing another source for additional information. I'd give myself a 9...

Short Answer Questions The owners of Austin Sports & Entertainment are  former University of Texas swimming star Sean Foley and New England sports entrepreneur Andrew Nestor. They're parenting with Rodeo Austin. President Trump  removed  protections from two monuments in Utah yesterday because he  believes  the public should be free to use the land. The University of Texas will raise its tuition  to keep up with inflation and increase the money put aside to pay for faculty and staff members, as well as improve the maintenance of the campus. The three Heisman Trophy finalists are  Baker Mayfield (OU quarterback), Lamar  Jackson (Louisville quarterback), and Bryce Love (Stanford running back).  I would like to see "Coco" because it reminds me of the movie "Book of Life,"  which  I liked. Long Answer Questions Donald Trump's tweet over the firing of Micheal Flynn was wrong because additio...
